Canvas bags Pakistan importers order straight from the weaving mill

Most bag workshops buy their cloth from a trader and their straps from another, and quality drifts every time a supplier changes. Curiotex Industries Pakistan works the other way round. We twist the yarn, weave the canvas, dye it and then stitch the finished bag in our own units in Kasur, so canvas bags from Pakistan reach you with the fabric, colour and seams all controlled by one team that has worked with cotton canvas since 1975.

The bag range grew out of what our customers already used the cloth for. Contractors asked for tool carriers that would not split under a hammer drill; travel agents serving pilgrims wanted luggage that survives the crowds of Makkah and Madinah; shopkeepers in Saudi Arabia wanted a simple, zipperless sack with strong handles. Each of those requests became a product line, and each can be adapted to a buyer's dimensions and brand.

This page explains the four families we make, the canvas weights that suit them, the options for printing and hardware, and how bulk export orders are organised. We do not publish a price list, because the price of a canvas bag depends almost entirely on the fabric weight, size, print and accessories you choose. Send us those details through the inquiry page and we will quote against them.

Canvas tote and tool bags for trades and workshops

A tool bag has a harder life than almost any other textile product. It is dropped on concrete, dragged over steel decking, loaded with sharp edges and left in the back of a pickup in the rain. That is why we build our tool totes from heavier plain canvas and concentrate the reinforcement where failure normally starts: the base corners, the handle roots and the top hem.

Construction details that matter

  • Double-layer or reinforced bases so drill bits and chisels do not punch through.
  • Handles stitched through to the side panels with box-and-cross stitching, not just tacked to the hem.
  • Internal and external pockets sized for common hand tools, arranged to the buyer's drawing.
  • Optional rigid rim or wire in the mouth so the bag stays open on the job.
  • Water-repellent or waterproof finishes for site and marine use.

Hardware stores, tool brands and industrial distributors often order these as promotional or retail items with their logo printed on the side. Electricians, carpenters, plumbers and maintenance crews use them because canvas does not crack in cold weather the way some plastics do, and a torn seam can be re-stitched by any tailor.

Hajj bags with wire reinforcement and anti-theft features

Every year millions of pilgrims travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah, and most of them carry a bag through airports, buses, hotel lobbies and some of the densest crowds on earth. Travel operators and pilgrim groups need luggage that is light, easy to identify, and difficult for pickpockets to open.

What makes a canvas Hajj bag different

Our Hajj bags use wire reinforcement in the frame or mouth so the bag holds its shape when packed and resists being squashed in baggage holds. Anti-theft features can include closures that sit against the body, concealed inner pockets for passports and money, and layouts that make it awkward to slip a hand inside unnoticed. The exact combination is agreed with each buyer, since some groups prefer a shoulder bag and others a small backpack style.

Group identification is a practical concern. Operators frequently want every pilgrim in a group to carry an identical colour with the operator's name, a phone number and sometimes a group code printed in large letters. Canvas takes screen printing well, and our own dyeing unit can hold a consistent shade across thousands of bags, so a group leader can spot their people across a terminal.

Pilgrim seasons follow the lunar calendar, so Hajj dates move earlier every year. Because production normally takes 30 to 45 days after sample approval, operators should plan bag orders well before their departure schedule is fixed.

Canvas travel bags and the Canvas Thela for Saudi Arabia

Travel and shopping bags

Our travel bags are generous carry-alls for luggage, groceries and market goods. Retailers use them as reusable shopping bags that replace plastic carriers, while travellers like them as a second piece of hand luggage that folds flat when empty. Sizes range from compact shoppers to large holdalls, and they can be made with or without zips, inner pockets and shoulder straps.

Canvas Thela

The Canvas Thela is a speciality product exported to Saudi Arabia. It is a zipperless canvas bag with sturdy straps, built for carrying goods quickly without fiddling with fasteners. The absence of a zip is deliberate: there is no slider to break or jam with sand, and the bag can be loaded and emptied in seconds. Shops, wholesalers and distributors in the Kingdom use it for moving merchandise, and many order it with their own print.

Because the Thela is a simple shape, the decisive factors are cloth weight, strap width and the strength of the strap joins. We match those to the load the customer expects to carry, which is why we ask how full the bag will be and how often it will be reused before we quote.

Choosing canvas weight for your bags

Every bag we make starts as cloth from our own looms, which is described on our canvas fabric page. Plain canvas from about 7 oz to well over 15 oz is available, and the right choice depends on the load and the image you want the bag to project.

Heavier is not always better. A 16 oz pilgrim bag would be needlessly heavy for an elderly traveller, whereas a 7 oz tool bag would tear in a week. Half panama and denim-type cloth are also options for fashion or printed totes that need texture more than strength. If you are unsure, we can make the same pattern in two weights for comparison.

Custom canvas bags: printing, sizes, handles and hardware

Almost every bag order we handle is customised in some way. The main variables are listed below; any of them can be fixed by sending us a drawing, a sample bag or simply a photograph with measurements.

Printing and branding

Screen printing is the usual method for logos, operator names and contact details, and it suits the slightly open surface of cotton canvas. Larger artwork can be printed across a full panel. Woven or printed labels, embroidered logos and stitched tags are further options for retail lines.

Sizes and shapes

We cut to the buyer's dimensions, with or without gussets, flat or box-bottomed. Pocket layouts, inner dividers and laptop sleeves can be added.

Handles and straps

Choices include self-fabric canvas handles, cotton or polyester webbing, padded shoulder straps and rope handles. Handle length decides whether the bag is carried in the hand or over the shoulder, so we confirm it at the sample stage.

Closures and hardware

Zips, press studs, buckles, hook-and-loop and drawcords are available, or no closure at all as on the Thela. Metal eyelets, rivets at stress points and wire frames are added where the design calls for them.

Colours and finishes

Natural white, olive, khaki, navy, black and custom shades are dyed in our own unit. Water-repellent finishes can be applied to the fabric before cutting.

How canvas bags are produced in our units

  1. Yarn and weaving. Cotton yarn is doubled on our own frames and woven into canvas to the weight agreed for your bag.
  2. Dyeing and finishing. The cloth is dyed to shade and, if required, given a water-repellent treatment.
  3. Cutting. Panels are cut from approved patterns so every bag in the order matches.
  4. Printing. Logos and text are printed on flat panels before assembly for sharper results.
  5. Stitching. Experienced operators assemble the bags on industrial sewing machines, reinforcing handles and corners.
  6. Inspection and packing. Finished bags are checked, counted and packed in cartons or bales as agreed.

Running all of these steps under one roof is what lets us keep shade, size and strength consistent from the first bag to the last. You can read more about each department on the Curio Units page.

Bulk export of canvas bags from Pakistan

Our main export markets include the Middle East and Africa, and Saudi Arabia in particular for Hajj bags and the Canvas Thela. Orders are shipped by sea container for volume, by truck for regional deliveries, and by air or courier when timing is critical. Bags are compact when packed flat, so a container holds a large count; the packing method, whether cartons or compressed bales, is chosen to balance protection against freight cost. Details are on our shipment page.

Minimum order quantities apply and vary with the design, because a fully printed bag with hardware involves more set-up than a plain tote. New customers normally pay by sight L/C or a 70% advance. Samples can be made from your own design and usually ship in about two weeks; once approved, bulk production generally needs 30 to 45 days depending on quantity. Any defective bags can be returned for repair or replacement.

Buyers who also need tarpaulins, tents or covers can combine them in the same shipment. Our canvas tarpaulin and canvas tents lines are made from the same family of fabrics.

Care and lifespan of cotton canvas bags

A well-made canvas bag can outlast many plastic or nonwoven bags, and the material can be repaired rather than thrown away. Brush off dry dirt, spot-clean marks with mild soap and cold water, and air-dry away from direct heat. Heavily soiled plain totes can be hand-washed, though printed and finished bags keep their look longer if they are not machine-washed often. Store bags dry, since damp cotton can mildew; a rot-proof finish helps if bags will be warehoused in humid conditions.

Canvas bags Pakistan: common questions from buyers

What kinds of canvas bags does Curiotex make?

We produce four main families: canvas tote and tool bags for trades, Hajj and Umrah bags with wire reinforcement and anti-theft details, travel and shopping bags, and the zipperless Canvas Thela supplied to Saudi Arabia. Each can be made in different sizes, weights and colours, and new designs can be developed from your sample or drawing.

Can you print our logo or company name on the bags?

Yes. Screen printing on canvas is the usual method and suits logos, operator names, phone numbers and group codes. Woven labels and embroidery are alternatives for retail ranges. Send your artwork with the print size and colours, and we will show the result on the sample before bulk production.

What makes your Hajj bags suitable for pilgrims?

They are built with wire reinforcement so the bag keeps its shape when packed, and with anti-theft features such as closures that sit against the body and concealed pockets for documents. Operators often order a single bright colour with large printed details so group members can identify each other in crowded terminals.

What is a Canvas Thela?

It is a zipperless canvas bag with sturdy straps that we make specially for buyers in Saudi Arabia. With no zip there is nothing to jam or break, and goods can be loaded and unloaded quickly. Shops and wholesalers use it to move merchandise, and many order it with their own print.

Which canvas weight should I choose for a tool bag?

For tool carriers we generally suggest around 14 to 16 oz plain canvas, roughly 475 to 545 gsm, with reinforced bases and handle joins. Lighter canvas is better for shoppers and pilgrim bags where carrying weight matters. Our canvas fabric page explains weights in more detail.

What is your minimum order quantity and price for canvas bags?

Minimum quantities exist but vary by design, since printing and hardware add set-up work. Prices depend on fabric weight, size, print and accessories, so we quote each request individually. Use the Send Inquiry form with your specifications and quantity to receive a quotation.

How long does a bulk canvas bag order take?

Samples usually ship in about two weeks. After you approve the sample, production normally takes 30 to 45 days depending on quantity and complexity. For seasonal products such as Hajj bags, place the order early enough to allow for sea freight to the destination.

Can you supply bags made to our own design?

Yes. We regularly develop samples from buyer designs, whether you send a technical drawing, a competitor's bag or a photo with measurements. Because we weave and dye our own canvas, we can also match a particular fabric weight or colour to the design.

How are canvas bags packed and shipped for export?

Bags are folded flat and packed in cartons or pressed bales, labelled by design and quantity. Shipments travel by sea container, truck, air or courier depending on volume and urgency. Bags can also share a container with tents, tarpaulins or fabric from our other product lines.
