About the Curiotex news and updates page

This page collects Curiotex news, company notices and practical buying notes for customers of Curiotex Industries Pakistan. We have been manufacturing canvas products since 1975, and over those decades the questions buyers ask have followed the calendar: relief agencies plan winter shelter in late summer, traders stock tarpaulins before the monsoon, and event companies refresh marquees ahead of wedding season. Rather than fill this space with announcements, we use it to share what we have learned, alongside the occasional genuine company update.

The posts below are not tied to a particular week. They are written to remain useful, and we revise them when something changes. If you want to discuss any topic raised here, the quickest route is our inquiry form or a call to +92 317 8885522.

Company update: the new curiotex.com website is live

Curiotex news graphic showing the new curiotex.com website on a laptop and a phone
The rebuilt curiotex.com works on phones, tablets and desktops, with a dedicated page for every product family.

In 2026 we rebuilt curiotex.com from the ground up. The old site had served us for many years, but it was not comfortable to read on a phone and many product pages carried only a few lines of text. The new site is designed for buyers who need detail: every tent family, our tarpaulins, truck covers, canvas fabric, canvas bags and polyester fabrics now have their own pages with size tables, weights, finishes and answers to common questions.

Some highlights of what changed:

  • A clear tent hub at canvas tents, linking to each of the nine tent families.
  • Specification tables that can be read on small screens without zooming.
  • A simpler inquiry form asking for the details we need to quote quickly.
  • Updated contact information throughout, with the old numbers removed.
  • Expanded pages about our in-house production units and shipment options.

If you spot an error, a broken link or information that does not match what you were told by our team, please let us know by email at info@curiotex.com. We would rather correct the page than leave a buyer confused.

Notice: our contact number has changed

Customers who have dealt with us for years may still have older landline numbers saved for our office. Those lines are no longer in service. Our current number for calls and messages is +92 317 8885522, and our email remains info@curiotex.com. Please update your supplier records, purchase order templates and letters of credit documentation so that correspondence reaches us without delay.

Current contact details: phone +92 317 8885522 · email info@curiotex.com · contact person Haji Ghulam Hasan. Factory and head office: Street #8, Abu Ayoub Ansari Town, Kasur 55050. Lahore office: PL-20 Siddiq Trade Center, Gulberg III, Lahore 54000.

If you receive messages that claim to be from Curiotex but come from another number or an unfamiliar email domain, especially messages asking you to change bank details, please verify directly with us before acting. Full details are on our contact page.

Seasonal note: preparing winterized tents ahead of winter

Every year, the same pattern repeats in cold-climate relief work: requests for warm shelter arrive when the first snow is already forecast, and everyone competes for production slots at once. The single most useful piece of advice we can offer is to start the conversation in summer. Our normal lead time is 30 to 45 days from product approval, and samples take about two weeks; add freight and in-country distribution, and a tent ordered in late autumn may arrive after the coldest weeks have begun.

What makes a tent suitable for winter

Our winterized tent uses 400/450 gsm cotton canvas with an inner of 4.05 x 4.05 m and comes with a PVC groundsheet, poles, pegs and a carry bag. Other family tents can be adapted for cold weather by choosing the double fly version with an inner tent and lining, and specifying a stove pipe opening. The double layer and trapped air improve warmth, while the groundsheet blocks rising damp.

A pre-winter checklist for buyers

  1. Confirm the specification your programme requires and share it with us early.
  2. Request a sample for technical inspection while there is still time to adjust.
  3. Decide on accessories: linings, stove openings, groundsheet type.
  4. Agree packing, marking and shipment mode so consignments can be distributed fast.
  5. Arrange payment terms, usually a sight L/C or 70% advance for new customers.

Details of our winterized, family and UNHCR-pattern tents are on the refugee tents page.

Buying guide: a monsoon season tarpaulin checklist

In Pakistan and across much of South Asia, the monsoon is when tarpaulins earn their money. Stacks of cement, grain and timber need cover, construction sites must keep materials dry, and factories protect goods in open yards. Traders who stock late often find that the heavier weights have already gone. A few points to check before the rains:

  • Weight. Our canvas tarpaulins come in 12 to 20 oz waterproof canvas. For multi-week exposure, 16 oz and above is a safer bet.
  • Proofing type. Wax-coated canvas sheds heavy rain strongly; chemically proofed canvas stays more flexible and breathable for covers moved often.
  • Size. Allow for the height of stacks when choosing; our standard range runs from 12' x 9' to 33' x 27'.
  • Eyelets and patches. Strong winds come with monsoon storms, so look for reinforced corners and enough tie points.
  • Storage. Dry tarps before folding between storms to avoid mildew.

For lightweight, temporary cover, we also supply HDPE and polyester-cotton tarpaulins. See the tarpaulin page for the full specifications and size table.

Event notes: marquee tents for the wedding and event season

Outdoor weddings, dinners and community functions drive steady demand for marquees, and many event companies use the quieter months to replace worn stock. Our marquee range covers multiple-pole marquees for about 100 to 300 guests, single-pole party tents for 15 to 75 people and marquee party tents with 1.8 m walls. Most are in 500 gsm waterproof cotton canvas, in natural white, solid colours or stripes.

When refreshing stock, think about the mix of sizes you actually rent, not only the largest. Smaller party tents are often booked more frequently and pay back faster. Check whether you need groundsheets, which can be canvas, PE or PVC, and replacement poles or pegs for older tents. For hospitality clients who want decorative interiors, the deluxe tent SDT/11 offers plain or printed inner folds and coloured linings. Full sizes are on the marquee tents page.

Procurement notes: buying relief tents as an NGO

Planning relief tent procurement: specification, sample, production and shipment.

Relief and refugee tents are our priority export, and we work regularly with organisations buying for emergencies and rehabilitation. A few observations from those conversations may help procurement teams:

Write the specification precisely

State canvas weight in gsm, fibre, colour, dimensions of inner and outer tents, wall and ridge heights, and every accessory. Where your agency follows a published pattern, attach it. We build family tents to the widely used UNHCR family-tent pattern as well as to buyer drawings, and clear documents remove guesswork.

Inspect a sample

Samples usually ship in about two weeks and can be developed to your design. A physical sample lets your technical staff check seams, proofing and fittings before production is committed.

Plan for packing and distribution

Agree how each tent is bundled, how cartons or bales are marked, and how many units fit in a container. Shipment can be by sea, truck, charter flight or courier depending on urgency.

Consider schools and clinics too

Camps quickly need classrooms and treatment space. Our school tent, dispensary frame tent and hospital tent are designed for exactly those roles.

Market note: canvas fabric for the Middle East ducting market

One of our steadiest export lines is canvas cloth for ducting applications, shipped in large volumes to buyers in the Middle East. Flexible duct connectors and similar products need a dependable woven base fabric, and buyers in this market typically order several weights and yarn types to match different jobs. Because we double, weave and finish the cloth ourselves, we can hold a specification steady from one shipment to the next, which matters to converters running continuous production.

Buyers new to this line should share the end use, required weight, width and any finishing so we can propose a matching construction. The same mill produces plain canvas from 7 to 24 oz, drop cloth, sheeting cloth and half panama. Read more on the canvas fabric page.

Product note: measuring for truck canvas covers

A frequent cause of delay on truck cover orders is incomplete measurements. Before you ask for a quotation, measure the body length, outside width, frame height and the distance over the bows, and decide how far the cover should drop. Note hook spacing and any windows or entry flaps you need. Photographs with a tape measure visible save a round of questions. Our truck covers are made in 7 to 20 oz cotton, polyester or poly-cotton canvas; details on the truck canvas page.

Maintenance note: storing tents and tarps between seasons

Much of the canvas we supply works hard for a few months and then waits in a store until it is needed again. How it is put away decides whether it comes out ready for use or spotted with mildew. Before storage, pitch or spread every tent and tarpaulin in dry weather, brush off soil and leaves, and let the cloth dry completely, including seams and hems where moisture hides. Fold loosely, ideally along different lines from last time, so the same creases do not wear through.

Store bundles on pallets or racks rather than on a concrete floor, in a ventilated room away from fuel, solvents and rodents. Count poles, pegs and ropes and replace anything missing while the off season gives you time. Where canvas has lost some water repellency after long service, a reproofing compound applied to dry fabric restores it. Small tears are best stitched and patched before storage rather than discovered on the day the tent is needed. For heavily used stock, our team can advise whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

Behind the scenes: why in-house production matters to buyers

Readers sometimes ask why we talk so often about our own units. The reason is practical. Because yarn doubling, weaving, dyeing, stitching and packing all happen within Curiotex, a change requested by a buyer, a heavier roof canvas, a different shade of olive, a stove opening moved to suit a heater, can be made without negotiating with outside suppliers. It also means one team answers for the finished product. Raw materials are purchased locally in Pakistan, and finished goods leave our packing unit ready for the mode of transport the client chooses. The Curio Units page explains each stage in more depth.

Product note: canvas bags for pilgrims and Saudi buyers

Canvas bags are a smaller but long-standing part of our range. Hajj bags for pilgrims include wire reinforcement and anti-theft features, and the zipperless canvas thela with sturdy straps is a product we export to Saudi Arabia. Importers planning stock ahead of pilgrimage seasons should allow for sampling and production time in the same way as tent buyers. More on the canvas bags page.

Curiotex news: questions from readers

How often is the Curiotex news page updated?

We add or revise posts when there is a genuine company update or when seasonal buying advice needs refreshing. We do not publish filler. If you want to be told about a specific product change, mention it when you contact us and our team will keep you informed directly.

What is the current Curiotex phone number?

Our number is +92 317 8885522 and our email is info@curiotex.com. Older office landline numbers are no longer in service, so please update any saved records. The contact person is Haji Ghulam Hasan.

When should relief agencies order winterized tents?

Ideally in summer. Production usually takes 30 to 45 days after the product is approved, samples about two weeks, and freight and distribution add more time. Starting early leaves room to inspect samples and adjust the specification before winter arrives.

Does Curiotex announce trade fair appearances here?

We display at some major industry fairs, but we only post a fair here once our participation is confirmed. If you would like to meet us, you are welcome to arrange a visit to our Lahore office at PL-20 Siddiq Trade Center, Gulberg III.

Which tarpaulin weight is best for the monsoon?

For covers left outdoors through weeks of rain, 16 to 20 oz canvas is the safer choice; 12 to 14 oz suits covers that are handled often. Wax-coated canvas gives the strongest shedding of heavy rain, while chemically proofed canvas stays more flexible.

Can I verify that a message really came from Curiotex?

Yes. If you receive a request to change payment details or anything else unexpected, call +92 317 8885522 or email info@curiotex.com before acting. We do not change bank details by casual message.

What changed on the new curiotex.com website?

Every product family now has its own detailed page with specifications, size tables and buyer questions, the site works properly on phones, the inquiry form is simpler, and outdated contact numbers have been removed.

Where can I see all tent types in one place?

The canvas tents hub lists all nine families, including refugee, military, marquee, store, camping, deluxe, school, hospital and general purpose tents, with a comparison table of canvas weights and uses.

How can I suggest a topic for a future update?

Send your suggestion to info@curiotex.com. Questions that several buyers raise often become guides on this page, as with the truck cover measuring note and the relief tent procurement notes.
