Marquee tents Pakistan buyers can order from Curiotex

When people search for marquee tents in Pakistan they are usually planning something with a crowd: a wedding lawn, a corporate launch, a trade exhibition, a religious gathering or a temporary hall where relief supplies are sorted and handed out. Curiotex Industries has stitched canvas shelters in Kasur since 1975, and the marquee line grows directly out of that tent tradition. Each marquee is cut from waterproof cotton canvas that we twist, weave, dye and sew in our own units, so the fabric that arrives on your site is fabric we controlled from yarn to final seam.

The range covers four families. Multiple pole marquees are the long halls used for big functions. Universal G.S. marquees are the modular, military-pattern tents with a fixed width and four standard lengths. Single pole party tents are square, peaked pavilions for smaller events. Marquee party tents are rectangular twin-pole tents that sit between the two. Every family can be made in natural white, a solid dyed colour or a striped pattern, and sizes outside the listed tables are cut to order.

This page sets out the dimensions, guest capacities, fabric choices, accessories and planning advice our buyers ask about most. If you already know what you need, the quickest route is the inquiry form; if you are still choosing between tent types, read on or browse the wider canvas tents catalogue.

Multiple pole marquee sizes and guest capacity

A multiple pole marquee uses a line of centre poles along the ridge, with shorter side poles holding up the walls every few metres. Because the load is spread over many poles, the roof can be very long without a heavy steel frame, which keeps the tent light enough to transport by truck and pitch with a local crew. Our multiple pole marquees use 500 to 600 gsm canvas; the heavier weight is the sensible choice when the tent will be up for weeks at a time or will see repeated hire use.

275 persons24 m12 m2 m288 m²
300 persons30 m10 m2 m300 m²

The capacity figures assume a mix of seating and circulation typical of a reception. A theatre-style seminar packs more people into the same floor, while a banquet with round tables, a stage and a buffet line holds fewer. Treat the numbers as a starting point and test your own layout against the floor area.

Long and narrow or short and wide?

The 30 × 10 m and 24 × 12 m tents have almost the same capacity but behave very differently on site. The long 30 m hall suits a narrow lawn or a street-side plot and gives a natural processional aisle for a baraat or a stage at one end. The 24 × 12 m layout is better for a square plot and keeps every guest closer to the centre, which helps sound and sightlines at a speech or a mehndi performance.

Universal G.S. marquee: one width, four lengths

The Universal G.S. (general service) marquee is a modular design that procurement officers like because every unit shares the same cross-section. Width is fixed at 5.94 m, the side wall stands 1.63 m and the centre rises to 3.6 m. What changes is the length, and each length has a traditional name taken from the role it usually served:

Universal8.22 m49 m²Small dining hall, workshop, prayer area
Hospital10.97 m65 m²Clinic or ward block, distribution hall
Store13.71 m81 m²Warehousing, kitchen and catering store

Universal G.S. tents come in single or double fly versions using 500 gsm canvas. The double fly adds a separate outer roof with an air gap, which noticeably lowers heat build-up under a Punjab summer sun and sheds heavy rain more reliably. Because the width is common, poles, guy layout and ground preparation are the same for every unit, which simplifies training and spare parts for a fleet. The Hospital length is described in detail on our hospital tent page, and the military variants are covered under military tents.

Single pole and marquee party tents for smaller functions

Not every event needs a hall. Birthday dinners, aqiqah gatherings, garden lunches, hotel poolside events and school functions often call for something under 75 guests that looks festive and goes up quickly. Our two party tent styles both use a 1.8 m wall so that standing guests never feel the roof pressing down.

Single pole party tent

A single tall centre pole lifts the roof into a peak, giving the classic pavilion silhouette that photographs well. It is offered in natural canvas, solid colours or stripes.

Two square party tents placed side by side make a good arrangement for a reception and a separate food service area, and they can be joined with a short canvas walkway. Where marquee tents are used: weddings, exhibitions and relief halls

Weddings and family functions

Lawn weddings, walima dinners and mehndi nights are the biggest single use for marquees in Pakistan. A striped or coloured roof sets the mood before any decoration goes up, and the waterproof canvas protects guests from a surprise monsoon shower.

Exhibitions and product launches

Trade shows, car launches and agricultural fairs need a clean, uniform hall with a predictable floor plan. Multiple pole marquees can be pitched in a row so that each exhibitor gets a bay between poles.

Religious and community gatherings

Ijtema, mehfil and Eid gatherings draw large crowds into open grounds. Long marquees give shade and cover for seating, wudu areas and langar service.

Relief halls and distribution points

After floods or earthquakes, agencies need covered space quickly to register families, sort supplies and run community kitchens. A 24 × 12 m marquee becomes a dry warehouse and queue shelter in a single day.

Hire companies and tent houses

Tent service businesses buy marquees to rent out across a wedding season. For them durability, matching colours across several units and easy repair are worth more than the lowest price.

Camps and field offices

Construction firms, survey teams and seasonal camps use Universal G.S. lengths as mess halls, offices and stores, often alongside store tents for heavier goods.

Relief buyers who need family accommodation rather than communal halls should compare our refugee tents, which are designed around household sizes and winter use.

Canvas, colours and stripe patterns for marquees

Standard marquee canvas is 500 gsm waterproof cotton, with 600 gsm available for multiple pole halls. Gsm means grams per square metre; a heavier cloth uses thicker yarns or a denser weave, which raises tear strength and water resistance but also adds weight to every bundle. For party tents and event hire, 500 gsm strikes a sensible balance. For a hall that stays up through a full season, or one that will be packed wet and repitched many times, the extra body of 600 gsm pays for itself.

Cotton canvas breathes. Water vapour escapes through the weave, so the inside of a canvas marquee feels less clammy than a sealed plastic tent when a few hundred people are breathing and eating under one roof. When rain hits, the cotton fibres swell and tighten the weave, and the waterproofing treatment does the rest.

Colour options

  • Natural white canvas, the traditional choice and easiest to light at night.
  • Solid dyed colours such as maroon, green, blue or yellow, using our in-house dyeing unit for fast colours.
  • Striped walls and roofs, for example red and white or green and white panels, which are popular for weddings.
  • Contrasting valance or scalloped edging along the eaves, matched to the wall stripes.

When you order several marquees that will be pitched together, ask for them in the same production lot. Dyed canvas from one batch matches better than cloth dyed weeks apart, and a hire fleet looks more professional when every roof is the same shade.

Special finishes

Depending on the site, we can add rot-proofing, termite-resistant treatment, abrasion-resistant finishing for rough ground, or high-temperature-resistant fabric for tents near kitchens and generators. Tell us the climate and the expected period of use and we will recommend a combination rather than treating everything by default.

Accessories supplied with every marquee

A marquee is only as good as the hardware that holds it up. Each tent leaves our packing unit as a complete kit, so that a crew on site does not have to hunt for missing parts.

Standard marquee kit
ItemPurpose
Metal centre and side polesCarry the ridge and wall line; sectional for transport
Iron pegsAnchor guy ropes and wall bottoms in soil or grass
PinsSecure wall panels and the lower edge between peg points
HammerDrive pegs and pins; one per kit so the crew never waits
Cotton carry bagHolds the canvas for storage and transport
Groundsheet (optional)Canvas, PE or PVC floor, sized to the tent footprint

Groundsheet choice depends on the event. A canvas floor feels pleasant underfoot and suits dry lawns. A PE sheet is the budget option for one-off use. PVC is the heavy choice for muddy grounds, catering areas and halls where food and drink will be spilled, because it can be wiped down and hosed clean. If you plan to lay carpets or a raised wooden floor, a groundsheet still helps by keeping rising damp away from the decor.

Tip for hire companies: order a few spare pegs, pins and one extra side pole per tent. These are the parts that go missing or bend during a busy season, and having spares avoids a short-handed pitch on a wedding day.

Site planning before you pitch a marquee

A well-chosen site makes a mid-range marquee look excellent, while a poor one can make the best canvas sag and leak. Run through these steps a few days before the event.

  1. Measure the plot with margins. Add at least 2 to 3 m on every side beyond the tent footprint for guy ropes, pegs and a walking path. A 15 × 7 m marquee therefore needs a clear area close to 20 × 12 m.
  2. Check the ground. Look for buried pipes, electric cables and sprinkler lines before driving pegs. Choose level ground or plan to level it; even a gentle slope sends rainwater straight through the tent.
  3. Plan drainage. On open ground a shallow trench on the uphill side diverts runoff. Avoid low patches where water collects after a storm.
  4. Mark pole positions. Peg out the ridge line first, then the corners, then the side pole positions. Square corners make the canvas sit tight and evenly tensioned.
  5. Decide entrances and services. Place the main entrance away from the prevailing wind, keep generators and cooking downwind and well clear of the canvas, and leave a clear route for emergency exit.
  6. Pitch, tension and walk the lines. Raise the centre poles, set the side poles, then tension guy ropes evenly. Walk the perimeter again after an hour, because new canvas relaxes slightly once it has been under load.

Strong wind is the main hazard for any fabric structure. If high winds are forecast, lower the walls on the windward side, add extra guy lines, and be prepared to clear the tent. Local event regulations and venue rules apply to large gatherings, so check them with the venue or the relevant authority well before the date.

Planning seating and floor layout inside the marquee

Floor area, not just headcount, decides whether a marquee will feel comfortable. As a rough event-industry rule of thumb, theatre-style rows need under 1 m² per guest, banquet seating at round tables needs a little more than 1 m², and a reception with a stage, buffet and dance floor can need 1.5 m² or more per person. These are general planning ratios, not fixed rules, and they help you decide between two neighbouring sizes.

Take the 18 × 9 m multiple pole marquee as an example. Its 162 m² floor holds about 150 guests in a mixed layout. Turn it into a lecture hall with straight rows and it fits more; add a 6 × 4 m stage and a long buffet and you should plan for fewer seats or move the buffet into a separate party tent beside the hall.

Working around the poles

Centre poles are part of a pole marquee's character. Wrap them in fabric or flowers, use them as anchor points for lighting, and place tables so that each pole falls between settings rather than in the middle of a walkway. If your event needs a completely clear span, a frame tent may suit better; our general and shelter tents page includes frame designs with unobstructed floors.

Care, storage and repair of canvas marquees

Canvas rewards a little care. The single most important rule is never to store it wet. If a marquee comes down in the rain, unpack it within a day or two and dry it fully in shade or under a roof before folding it again; damp cotton packed tightly is how mildew starts. Brush off dried mud rather than scrubbing with detergents, which can strip the waterproof finish.

  • Fold along the same seams each time to avoid sharp creases across panels.
  • Keep bags off concrete floors on pallets so moisture cannot wick upward.
  • Inspect ropes, eyelets and pole sockets after each event and replace worn parts before the next.
  • Patch small tears early with matching canvas; a small hole caught today is a quick repair, a ripped panel next week is a replacement.

Hire companies often ask us for spare panels in matching colour so they can rebuild damaged sections in their own workshop. That is easier to arrange when the original order and the spares are planned together.

Marquee tents Pakistan: buyer questions

How many guests fit in each marquee size?

As a guide, the 15 × 7 m multiple pole marquee seats about 100 people, 18 × 9 m about 150, 24 × 12 m about 275 and 30 × 10 m about 300. Party tents range from 15 guests in a 4 × 4 m single pole tent to 75 in a 9 × 9 m or 12 × 6 m tent. A stage, buffet or dance floor reduces these numbers.

What canvas weight is used in your marquee tents?

Standard marquees use 500 gsm waterproof cotton canvas. Multiple pole marquees can be ordered in 500 or 600 gsm. Choose 600 gsm for halls that stay pitched for long periods or that a hire company will put up and take down many times in a season.

Can I order striped or coloured marquees for weddings?

Yes. Marquees come in natural white, solid dyed colours or striped patterns, and the single pole party tent is especially popular in stripes. Colours are dyed in our own unit for fast shades. If several tents will stand together, order them in one lot so the colours match.

What is a Universal G.S. marquee?

It is a modular general service marquee with a fixed 5.94 m width, 1.63 m wall and 3.6 m centre height, made in four lengths: Operating 5.48 m, Universal 8.22 m, Hospital 10.97 m and Store 13.71 m. It is available in single or double fly with 500 gsm canvas.

Which accessories come with the tent?

Each marquee is supplied with metal poles, iron pegs, pins, a hammer and a cotton carry bag. A groundsheet in canvas, PE or PVC can be added. We suggest hire companies also order a few spare pegs, pins and side poles.

Can you make a marquee in a size not shown in the tables?

Yes. Custom lengths, widths, wall heights and colours are made on request, and we can work from your drawing or a sample. Tell us the plot size and how many guests you expect and we will propose dimensions and a pole layout.

Are the marquees waterproof in monsoon rain?

The canvas is waterproof cotton, and when wet the cotton fibres swell to tighten the weave further. Good pitching matters as much as fabric: keep the canvas tensioned, choose level ground and dig a small drainage trench on the uphill side so runoff cannot flow under the walls.

How long does production take and what are the payment terms?

Production usually takes 30 to 45 days from sample or specification approval, depending on quantity. New customers pay by sight L/C or 70% advance. Samples usually ship in around two weeks. Use the inquiry form to start.

Do you export marquee tents outside Pakistan?

Yes. We export to the Middle East, West Africa and other regions by sea container, air freight, charter or courier, and supply local buyers by truck. Freight depends on mode, destination and consignment size. See our shipment page for details.

Can a marquee be used as a temporary relief or storage hall?

Yes. Large multiple pole and Universal G.S. marquees are often used after disasters as distribution halls, registration points, community kitchens and dry stores. Add a PVC groundsheet for storage use and consider 600 gsm canvas or a double fly if the hall will stand for months.
